CHALLENGE ACCEPTED

I'm not sure if anyone has heard, but apparently, Twitter is a pretty big deal right now.

#winning !

Twitter is a place where you can send your unhappy thoughts and rants into cyberspace for anyone and everyone to read in a more condensed form.

I came across one tweet, and I really thought that there was something in there that gives a glimpse into the mind of procrastinators everywhere:

I Do That Too tweeted, "'This is not an assignment you can do the night before' CHALLENGE ACCEPTED"

However, there are a couple of things to remember before you can officially procrastinate like a pro.

  1. This method may not be for you. If you've never done this before (which I highly doubt unless you (yeah, you!) are the class browner), it is important to know beforehand whether you work well under pressure. If you don't, then this is NOT for you.
  2. Next, try not to spend to much time procrastinating during your rapid work period (for example: while it may be helpful to know what percentage you need on this project in order to get your credit, there are probably more useful things that can be done meanwhile).
  3. Finally, have some fun with it! For me, I find some of my best work comes from finishing projects in the final seconds (literally) before it is due.

Bonne chance!

One two three.

One Mississippi, Two Mississippi, Three Mississippi. Stop. One Mississippi, Two Mississippi, Three Mississippi. Stop. One Mississippi...

Something had caught my eye along the forest's edge.

I wandered closer, hoping for a better look. As I took another step into the forest's shadowed depths, an abrupt snap made me startle and my eyes darted to the darkened edges of my vision. My feet were glued to the ground.

A shape cloaked in darkness glided past me just as I turned again toward the mysterious something deeper in the forest. I just need to reach it, and then I could go home for hot cocoa and freshly baked biscuits. Ma always makes them underdone so that they're soft and chewy for me, and then puts the rest back in after mine are set aside. My stomach grumbled.

An answering groan issued from behind my right shoulder, where I quickly glanced.

The object sparkled in the moonlight and began to give off its own halo. My eyes widened and I quickly sucked in my "o" of wonder.

More cracks sounded in the trees, but from above. Something silky smooth brushed my left ankle as it slithered past.

That was that.

The illumination surrounding the object began to glow brighter as I drew closer and  carefully counted my steps.

I crouched and my hand lifted of its own volition. I watched carefully as my hand, which no longer felt like my own, moved toward the brightening light in half time.

My breathing slowed with my concentration; all the while, one onethousand, two onethousand, three onethousand, my hand embraced the proffered light.

And then I was back home, sitting with Ma. Coffee was steaming from her ceramic mug that I had brought home for her from Nashville. Dolly Parton sure looked like one perky camper. She had all of thirteen teeth showing from her sparkling smile.

The caramel liquid in my own cup swirled about as the spoon completed its orbit one, two, three times. Three marshmellows, for good measure.

My biscuit was waiting to be disected into precice pieces.

Everything was as it should be.

I would just like to give some context to this piece:

I just purchased a new App that proclaimed to be the next greatest thing for writers and the elimination of writer's block. It could be the App, it could be me, or it could just be that I haven't written anything for a while and it needed to be written, but I sat down and wrote this little piece in five minutes flat. It wasn't a direct thought, just some mind-debris, I suppose.  The App has a clean background and the only thing else seen is text that you are writing. Simply text. You can also listen to soothing music while your keyboard "clacks" away rather nicely in the background. This App is called OmmWriter and I recommend checking it out if you have a Mac or an iPad!
