Crystallophobia

Hi. My name is Crystal and I have Crystallophobia.

Despite what you may be thinking at present, Crystallophobia is not some word that I made up to demonstrate my fear of myself.

Crystallophobia: fear of crystals or glass

When I was younger, I was never able to empty the dishwasher. I would always physically cringe at the feeling - and sound - of fingers on glass. I actually shuddered thinking about it just now.

Occasionally I would drop the cup because a shudder ran through my entire body, shaking my hands. *shudder, shudder*

Can you conjure the feeling and sound of it in your mind, right now? It's kind of like the sound of nails scraping against the chalkboard during a particularly tedious note; it's a rather unpleasant awakening.

Another thing that I hate (HATE) is when I would try to find some other way to grasp the glass and it just makes a worse noise (do not - I repeat - DO NOT use paper towel to cover the cup! *shudder*).

I am happy to say that, at 17 years old - and after extensive training and practice - I am able to successfully empty the dishwasher without covering my ears or curling my toes as I battle with myself over my ridiculous phobia.

Well, maybe most of the time...

*squeek* *pip* *SQUEEEEK* GAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
